I wrote a long article most this for NewsBlaze, but I wanted to deal some statistics with you that not many know. I utilised to follow the statistics pretty closely, but these sound most right. This is part of the article I dispatched them.
The statistics for children upraised in boost tending are staggering, and conceive it or not, I conceive they've reinforced significantly through the years. For example, when I was in boost care, programs like the ones the Annie E. Casey Foundation assets and supports were not available.
The statistics for past boost children are frightening:
# 25% of past boost youth will be incarcerated within the first 2 eld of emancipation.
# Former boost youth are found to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at 2 times the take of U.S. struggle veterans.
# Forty-two percent (42%) of boost youth, including 60% of women, embellish parents within 2.5-4 eld after exiting care.
# Parents with a story of boost tending are nearly twice as probable to see their own children placed in boost tending or embellish unfortunate than parents without this history.
# Females in boost tending are sextet times more probable than the general population to give birth before age 21.
# 1/3 of past boost youth have incomes at, or below, $6,000 per year, which is substantially below the federal poverty take of $7,890 for a single individual.
# 83% of boost children are held back by the third grade.
# 46% of past boost youth rank broad school (compared to 84% of the general population)
# 70% of teens who emancipate from boost tending inform that they poverty to attend college, but less than 50% rank their broad school exercise and less than 10% of who correct from broad school recruit and college, and of those less than 1% correct from college.
Of instruction statistics vary, but when I think of ways that could make a big difference in combating homelessness, incarceration rates, teenaged pregnancy, etc, I ofttimes think that there would be a momentous drop in all of these areas if we fixed the boost tending system.
I know this is a departure from my usual blog style, but I wanted to deal this with everyone and ground I'm so aroused most these issues. I do astonishment if we could change the boost tending system if we could significantly help our country.
All best,
Rose
